FluidLevelCheck—Vehicleswith2.4Land2.7L
Engines
Use the following procedure to check the automatic
transaxlefluidlevelproperly:
drivenatleast15miles(24km).Hotfluidcannotbeheld
comfortably between the fingertips. Cold fluid is at a
temperaturebelow80°F(27°C).

Wipethedipstickcleanandreinsertuntilseated.Then,

Parkthevehicleonlevelground.

Run the engine at curb idle speed for a minimum of
seconds.
a. If the fluid is hot, the reading should be in the
crosshatchedareamarked“HOT”(betweentheupper
twoholesinthedipstick).

Applytheparkingbrakefully.
b. Ifthefluidiscold,thefluidlevelshouldbebetween
thelowertwoholesintheareamarked“COLD.”
4.
Place the gear selector momentarily in each gear
positionendingwiththeleverinPARK.
Wipe the area around the dipstick clean to eliminate
thepossibilityofdirtenteringthetransaxle.
Removethedipstickanddetermineifthefluidishot
Ifthefluidlevelislow,addsufficientfluidthroughthe
filler(dipstick)tubetobringittotheproperlevel.Donot
overfill.
