MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE
The best time to check the engine oil level is about
5minutesafterafullywarmedengineisshutoff.Donot
CAUTION!
checkoillevelbeforestartingtheengineafterithassat
overnight.Checkingengineoillevelwhentheengineis
coldwillgiveyouanincorrectreading.
Do not overfill the engine. Overfilling the engine
willcauseoilaeration,whichcanleadtolossofoil
pressure and an increase in oil temperature. This
coulddamageyourengine.
Checkingtheoilwhilethevehicleisonlevelgroundand
onlywhentheengineishot,willimprovetheaccuracyof
theoillevelreadings.Maintaintheoillevelbetweenthe
range markings on the dipstick. Either the range mark-
ings consist of a crosshatch zone marked SAFE or a
crosshatchzonemarkedwithMINatthelowendofthe
rangeandMAXatthehighendoftherange.Addingone
quart of oil when the reading is at the low end of the
rangemarkingwillraisetheoilleveltothehighendof
therangemarking.
ChangeEngineOil
Theoilchangeindicatorsystemwillremindyouthatitis
timetotakeyourvehicleinforscheduledmaintenance.

manualforinformationonthissystem.
NOTE:
Under no circumstances should oil change
intervals exceed 6,000 miles (10 000 km) or 6 months,
whicheveroccursfirst.
