GrossAxleWeightRating(GAWR)
TheGVWRisthetotalallowableweightofyourvehicle.
This includes driver, passengers, cargo, and tongue
weight.Thetotalloadmustbelimitedsothatyoudonot
exceedtheGVWR.
TheGAWRisthemaximumcapacityofthefrontandrear
axles. Distribute the load over the front and rear axles
evenly.Makesurethatyoudonotexceedeitherfrontor
rearGAWR.
GrossTrailerWeight(GTW)
WARNING!
TheGTWistheweightofthetrailerplustheweightofall
cargo, consumables and equipment (permanent or tem-
porary) loaded in or on the trailer in its Љloaded and
readyforoperationЉcondition.Therecommendedwayto
measure GTW is to put your fully loaded trailer on a
vehicle scale. The entire weight of the trailer must be
supportedbythescale.
Itisimportantthatyoudonotexceedthemaximum
frontorrearGAWR.Adangerousdrivingcondition 5
canresultifeitherratingisexceeded.Youcouldlose
controlofthevehicleandhaveanaccident.
TrailerTongueWeight(TW)
Thetongueweightisthedownwardforceexertedonthe
hitchballbythetrailer.Inmostcasesitshouldnotbeless
than or more than 10% of the trailer load. You must
considerthisaspartoftheloadonyourvehicle.
GrossCombinationWeightRating(GCWR)
TheGCWRisthetotalpermissibleweightofyourvehicle
and trailer when weighed in combination. (Note that
GCWRratingsincludea150lbs(68kg)allowanceforthe
presenceofadriver).
