CAUTION!
This range eliminates shifts into fourth gear. The trans-
axlewilloperatenormallyinfirstandsecondgear.Shifts
into third gear may be delayed to provide second gear
operationathigherspeeds.TheЉ3Љrangeshouldalsobe
used when descending steep grades to prevent brake
systemdistress
If the transaxle operating temperature exceeds ac-
ceptable limits, the vehicle computer will override
DRIVE
(OVERDRIVE)
and
[5]
for
6–Speed
AutoSticktransaxleand[3]for4–Speedautotrans-
axle,rangebychangingshiftpoints.Thisisdoneto
preventtransaxledamageduetooverheating.
NOTE: UsingtheЉ3Љrangewhileoperatingthevehicle
under heavy operating conditions will improve perfor-
mance and extend transaxle life by reducing excessive
shiftingandheatbuild-up.

ResetMode-ElectronicTransaxle
The transaxle is monitored electronically for abnormal
conditions. If a condition is detected that could cause
damage,thetransaxleautomaticallyshiftsinto2ndgear
(3rdgearfor6–speed).Thetransaxleremainsin2ndgear
(3rdgearfor6–speed)despitetheforwardgearselected.
PARK,REVERSE,andNEUTRALwillcontinuetooper-
ate.ThisResetfeatureallowsthevehicletobedrivento
adealerforservicewithoutdamagingthetransaxle.
LOWWith4–SpeedTransaxle
This range should be used for engine braking when
descendingverysteepgrades.Inthisrange,upshiftswill
occuronlytopreventengineoverspeedwhiledownshifts
occurearlierthanothergearrangeselections.
