DRIVING ON SLIPPERY SURFACES
Traction
Whendrivingonwetorslushyroads,itispossiblefora
wedge of water to build up between the tire and road
surface. This is hydroplaning and may cause partial or
completelossofvehiclecontrolandstoppingability.To
reducethispossibility,thefollowingprecautionsshould
beobserved:
Acceleration
Rapid acceleration on snow covered, wet, or other slip-
perysurfacesmaycausethefrontwheelstopullerrati-
callytotherightorleft.Thisphenomenonoccurswhen
thereisadifferenceinthesurfacetractionunderthefront
(driving)wheels.

Unequal traction can cause sudden pulling of the
front wheels. You could lose control of the vehicle
andpossiblyhaveanaccident.Accelerateslowlyand
carefullywheneverthereislikelytobepoortraction
(ice,snow,wet,mud,loosesand,etc.).

Replace the tires when tread wear indicators first
becomevisible.
4. Keepthetiresproperlyinflated.

Maintain enough distance between your vehicle and
thevehicleinfrontofyoutoavoidacollisioninasudden
stop.
