Ignoring the Airbag Warning Light in your instru-
mentpanelcouldmeanyouwon’thavetheairbagsto
protectyouinacollision.Ifthelightdoesnotcome
on,staysonafteryoustartthevehicle,orifitcomes
onasyoudrive,havetheairbagsystemcheckedright
away.
The Occupant Restraint Controller System (ORC) de-
ploysthesideinflatablecurtainandseat-mountedthorax
side airbags during collision with other vehicles and
during collisions where the impact is confined to a
particular area of the vehicle — such as collisions with
poles,treesorsimilarobjects.
It will deploy the side inflatable curtains and front
seat-mountedthoraxsideairbagsonlyontheimpactside
ofthevehicle.
ImpactSensors
Twosensors,locatedonthefrontbodystructure,trigger
airbagdeploymentindirectfrontalimpactsandaidthe
Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) in determining
appropriateresponsetofrontalimpactevents.Additional
sensorsintheORCdeterminethelevelofairbagdeploy-
mentandprovidedeploymentverification.
The front driver and passenger seat contain inflatable
sideairbagstoprotecttheoccupantfromimpactinjuries.
Correctly functioning front passenger seat components
are critical for the ORC to properly classify the front
passenger and calculate the proper airbag deployment.
Do not make any modifications to the front passenger
seatcomponents,assembly,ortotheseatcover.
