or NEUTRAL if the engine speed is higher than
idlespeed.Ifyourfootisnotfirmlyonthebrake
pedal,thevehiclecouldacceleratequicklyforward
orinreverse.Youcouldlosecontrolofthevehicle
and hit someone or something. Only shift into
gearwhentheengineisidlingnormallyandwhen
yourrightfootisfirmlyonthebrakepedal.
DRIVE
Thisrangeisusedformostcityandhighwaydriving.

This range is used for moderate grades and to assist
brakingondrypavementorinmudandsnow.Beginsat
a stop in low gear with automatic upshift to 2nd gear.
Willnotshiftto3rdgear.
REVERSE
This range is for moving the vehicle rearward. Use this
rangeonlyafterthevehiclehascometoacompletestop.

Thisrangeisusedforhardpullingatlowspeedsinmud,
sand,snow,oronsteepgrades.Beginsandstaysinlow
gearwithnoupshift.Providesenginecompressionbrak-
ingatlowspeeds.
NEUTRAL
This range is used when the vehicle is standing for
prolongedperiodswiththeenginerunning.Theengine
maybestartedinthisrange.Settheparkingbrakeifyou
mustleavethevehicle.
