WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES
HAZARD WARNING FLASHER
IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS
The Hazard Warning flasher switch is located in the
switchbankbelowtheclimatecontrols.
In any of the following situations, you can reduce the
potential for overheating your engine by taking the
appropriateaction.
Press the switch to turn on the Hazard Warning
flasher.Whentheswitchisactivated,alldirectional
turnsignalswillflashonandofftowarnoncoming
trafficofanemergency.Presstheswitchasecondtimeto
turnofftheHazardWarningflasher.
• Onthehighways—slowdown.

In city traffic — while stopped, put transmission in
NEUTRAL,butdonotincreaseengineidlespeed.
Thisisanemergencywarningsystemanditshouldnot
beusedwhenthevehicleisinmotion.Useitwhenyour
vehicle is disabled and it is creating a safety hazard for
othermotorists.
CAUTION!
Driving with a hot cooling system could damage
your vehicle. If the temperature gauge reads “H,”
pulloverandstopthevehicle.Idlethevehiclewith
theairconditionerturnedoffuntilthepointerdrops
backintothenormalrange.Ifthepointerremainson
the “H” and you hear continuous chimes, turn the
engineoffimmediatelyandcallforservice.
Whenyoumustleavethevehicletoseekassistance,the
Hazard Warning flasher will continue to operate even
thoughtheignitionswitchisintheLOCKposition.
NOTE: Withextendeduse,theHazardWarningflasher
mayweardownyourbattery.
