Whenshiftingintooroutof4WDLOW,somegearnoise
maybeheard.Thisnoiseisnormalandisnotdetrimental
tothevehicleoritsoccupants.
NOTE:
If any of the requirements to select a new
transfercasepositionhavenotbeenmet,thetransfercase
willnotshift,theindicatorlightforthepreviousposition
willremainon,andthenewlyselectedpositionindicator
lightwillcontinuetoflashuntilalltherequirementsfor
theselectedpositionhavebeenmet.Toretryashift,move
the 4WD Control Switch back to the original position,
makecertainallshiftrequirementshavebeenmet,wait
fiveseconds,andtrytheshiftagain.
Shifting can be performed with the vehicle rolling 2 to
3mph(3to5km/h)usingthe“PreferredProcedure”or
completelystoppedusingthe“AlternateProcedure.”
PreferredProcedure
1. WiththeengineRUNNING,slowthevehiclespeedto
2
to3mph(3to5km/h).
2. ShiftthetransmissionintoNEUTRAL.
While still rolling, move the 4WD Control Switch to
2WDto4WDAuto
Move the 4WD Control Switch to the desired position.
Shiftsbetween2WDand4WDAutocanbedonewiththe
vehicle stopped or in motion. If the vehicle is stopped,
theignitionswitchmustbeintheONpositionwiththe
engine either OFF or RUNNING. This shift cannot be
completediftheignitionswitchisintheACCposition.

4. After the desired position indicator light is on (not
flashing),shiftthetransmissionintogear.
