Ifthevehiclediagnosticsystemdeterminesthatthefuel
filler cap in loose, improperly installed, or damaged, a
“gASCAP”messagewilldisplayintheinstrumentclus-
ter.Tightenthegascapuntila“clicking”soundisheard.
This is an indication that the gas cap is properly tight-
ened.Pressthetripodometerresetbuttontoturnoffthe
message.Iftheproblempersists,themessagewillappear
thenexttimethevehicleisstarted.Thismightindicatea
damagedcap.Iftheproblemisdetectedtwiceinarow,
thesystemwillturnontheMIL.Resolvingtheproblem
willturntheMILlightoff.

A fire may result if gasoline is pumped into a
portablecontainerthatisinsideofavehicle.You
could be burned. Always place gas containers on
thegroundwhilefilling.

that the gas cap is tightened each time the vehicle is
