LATCHcompatiblechildsafetyseatshavetworigidorwebbingmounted
attachmentsthatconnecttothetwoloweranchorsattheLATCH
equippedseatingpositionsinyourvehicle.Thistypeofattachment
methodeliminatestheneedtouseseatbeltstoattachthechildseat,
howevertheseatbeltcanstillbeusedtoattachthechildseat.For
forward-facingchildseats,thetoptetherstrapmustalsobeattachedto
thepropertoptetheranchor,ifatoptetherstraphasbeenprovided
withyourchildseat.MazdaMotorCorporationrecommendstheuseofa
childsafetyseathavingatoptetherstrap.SeeAttachingchildsafety
seatswithtetherstrapsandRecommendationsforattachingsafety
restraintsforchildreninthischapterformoreinformation.
YourvehiclehasLATCHloweranchorsforchildseatinstallationatthe
seatingpositionsmarkedwiththechildseatsymbol.
TheLATCHanchorsarelocatedat
therearsectionoftherearseat
betweenthecushionandseatback.
Followthechildseatmanufacturer’s
instructionstoproperlyinstalla
childseatwithLATCHattachments.
Followtheinstructionsonattaching
childsafetyseatswithtetherstraps.
RefertoAttachingchildsafety
seatswithtetherstrapslaterinthis
chapter.
AttachLATCHlowerattachmentsof
thechildseatonlytotheanchors
shown.
WARNING:Neverattach
twochildsafetyseatstothe
sameanchor.Inacrash,one
anchormaynotbestrongenough
