Seating and Safety Restraints
WARNING:Dependingonwhereyousecureachildrestraint,
anddependingonthechildrestraintdesign,youmayblock
accesstocertainseatbeltbuckleassembliesand/orLATCHlower
anchors,renderingthosefeaturespotentiallyunusable.Toavoidriskof
injury,occupantsshouldonlyuseseatingpositionswheretheyareable
tobeproperlyrestrained.
Use of inboard lower anchors from the outboard seating positions
(center seating use)
Theloweranchorsatthecenterofthesecondrowrearseatarespaced
400
mm(16inches)apart.ThestandardizedspacingforLATCHlower
anchorsis280mm(11inches)centertocenter.Achildseatwithrigid
LATCHattachmentscannotbeinstalledatthecenterseatingposition.
LATCHcompatiblechildseats(withattachmentsonbeltwebbing)can
onlybeusedatthisseatingpositionprovidedthatthechildseat
manufacturer’sinstructionspermitusewiththeanchorspacingstated.
Donotattachachildseattoanyloweranchorifanadjacentchildseatis
attachedtothatanchor.
WARNING:ThestandardizedspacingforLATCHloweranchors
is280mm(11inches)centertocenter.DonotuseLATCH
loweranchorsforthecenterseatingpositionunlessthechildseat
manufacturer’sinstructionspermitandspecifyusinganchorsspacedat
leastasfarapartasthoseofthisvehicle.
IfyouinstallachildseatwithrigidLATCHattachments,andhave
attachedthetoptetherstraptothepropertoptetheranchor,donot
tightenthetetherstrapenoughtoliftthechildseatoffthevehicleseat
cushionwhenthechildisseatedinit.Keepthetetherstrapjustsnug
withoutliftingthefrontofthechildseat.Keepingthechildseatjust
touchingthevehicleseatgivesthebestprotectioninaseverecrash.
Eachtimeyouusethesafetyseat,checkthattheseatisproperly
attachedtotheloweranchorsandtetheranchor,ifapplicable.Tugthe
childseatfromsidetosideandforwardandbackwhereitissecuredto
thevehicle.Theseatshouldmovelessthanoneinchwhenyoudothis
foraproperinstallation.
Ifthesafetyseatisnotanchoredproperly,theriskofachildbeing
injuredinacrashgreatlyincreases.
