Service Data Recording
Servicedatarecordersinyourvehiclearecapableofcollectingand
storingdiagnosticinformationaboutyourvehicle.Thispotentially
includesinformationabouttheperformanceorstatusofvarioussystems
andmodulesinthevehicle,suchasengine,throttle,steeringorbrake
systems.Inordertoproperlydiagnoseandserviceyourvehicle,Mazda
NorthAmericanOperations,MazdaCanada,andserviceandrepair
facilitiesmayaccessvehiclediagnosticinformationthroughadirect
connectiontoyourvehiclewhendiagnosingorservicingyourvehicle.
Event Data Recording
Othermodulesinyourvehicle—eventdatarecorders—are
capableofcollectingandstoringdataduringacrashornear
crashevent.Therecordedinformationmayassistinthe
investigationofsuchanevent.Themodulesmayrecord
informationaboutboththevehicleandtheoccupants,potentially
includinginformationsuchas:

howvarioussystemsinyourvehiclewereoperating;
whetherornotthedriverandpassengerseatbeltswerebuckled;
howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheaccelerator
and/orthebrakepedal;

howfastthevehiclewastraveling;and
wherethedriverwaspositioningthesteeringwheel.
Toaccessthisinformation,specialequipmentmustbedirectly
connectedtotherecordingmodules.MazdaNorthAmerican
OperationsandMazdaCanadadonotaccesseventdatarecorder
informationwithoutobtainingconsent,unlesspursuanttocourt
orderorwhererequiredbylawenforcement,othergovernment
authoritiesorotherthirdpartiesactingwithlawfulauthority.
Otherpartiesmayseektoaccesstheinformationindependently
ofMazdaNorthAmericanOperationsandMazdaCanada.
