Stowing the flat/spare tire
Note:Failuretofollowsparetirestowageinstructionsmayresultin
failureofcableorlossofsparetire.
Ifyouarestowingatirethatrequiresreattachingittothe
vehiclewithatether,performthesestepsfirst,thenproceedwith
thestepsfollowing.
1.
Placetireonendwithvalve
stemfacingrearward,away
fromvehicle.
2.
Placetetherintoboltholesin
wheelandattachlugnutusing
lugwrench.
3.
Laythetireonthegroundwiththevalvestemfacingdown.Ifyour
vehicleisequippedwithaluminumwheels,removethewheelcenter
cap.

Slidethewheelpartiallyunderthevehicleandinstalltheretainer
throughthecenterofthewheel.
Turnthejackhandleclockwiseuntilthetireisraisedtoitsoriginal
positionunderneaththevehicle.Theefforttoturnthejackhandle
increasessignificantlyasthetirecontactstheframe.Thesparetire
carrierwillratchetwhenthetireisinthefullystowedposition.The
sparetirecarrierhasabuilt-inratchetfeaturethatwillnotallowyou
toovertighten.Ifthesparetirecarrierratchetswithverylittleeffort,
takethevehicletoyourauthorizedMazdadealerforassistanceat
yourearliestconvenience.Ifyourvehicleisequippedwithatrailer
hitch,guidethetirewithonehand;keeptherearofthetiretilted
downuntilthetireclearsthebumper.
6.
Checkthatthetireliesflatagainsttheframeassembly.Pushagainst
thetiretomakesureitistightlyseatedunderthevehicle.Loosen
andretighten,ifnecessary.(Makesurethatthetiredoesnotcontact
thebumper.)
