Fluid level checks
Note:Inanemergency-andonlyifthe
approvedantifreezeisunavailable-topupthe
coolingsystemwithcleanwater,butbeaware
oftheresultantreductioninfrostprotection.
Donottopuporrefillwithconventional
antifreezeformulations.Ifindoubt,consulta
qualifiedtechnician.
Withthevehicleonlevelground,checkthe
fluidlevelatleasteveryweek(morefrequently
inhighmileageorarduousoperating
conditions).
Makesurethecapistightenedfullyaftertopup
iscomplete,byturningthecapuntiltheratchet
capclicks.
CHECKINGTHEBRAKEFLUIDLEVEL
Brakefluidishighlytoxic-keep
containerssealedandoutofthereach
ofchildren.Ifaccidentalconsumption
offluidissuspected,seekmedical
attentionimmediately.
Ifthefluidcomesintocontactwiththe
skinoreyes,rinseimmediatelywith
plentyofwater.

Cleanthefillercapbeforeremoving,to
preventdirtfromenteringthereservoir.

Donotdrivethevehiclewiththefluid
levelbelowtheMINmark.
Thebrakefluidlevelshouldbebetweenthe
MINandtheMAXmarks.
Ifthequantityoffluidinthebrake/clutch
reservoirdropsbelowtherecommendedlevel,
aredwarningindicatorintheInstrumentpanel
willilluminate.
Thefluidlevelmaydropslightlyduringnormal
useasaresultofbrakepadwear,butshould
notbeallowedtodropbelowtheMINmark.
Note:Ifthewarningindicatorilluminateswhile
thevehicleisbeingdriven,stopthevehicleas
soonassafetypermitsbygentlyapplyingthe
brakes.Checkandtopupthefluidlevel,if
necessary.
TOPPINGUPTHEBRAKEFLUID
Brakefluidwilldamagepainted
surfaces.Soakupanyspillagewithan
absorbentclothimmediatelyandwash
theareawithamixtureofcarshampoo
andwater.
Seekqualifiedassistance
immediatelyifbrakepedaltravelis
unusuallylongorifthereisany
significantlossofbrakefluid.Driving
undersuchconditionscouldresultin
extendedstoppingdistancesor
completebrakefailure.
Onlyusenewfluidfromanairtight
container.Fluidfromopenedcontainers
orfluidpreviouslybledfromthesystem
willhaveabsorbedmoisture,whichwill
adverselyaffectperformance,andmust
notbeused.
