SYSTEMDIFFICULTIES
Useofanincorrectprogrammewill
impairthevehicle'sresponsetothe
terrainandcanreducethelifeofthe
suspensionanddrivesystems.
Thisprogrammeshouldbeused
forcrossingterrainthatismuddy,
rutted,softoruneven.HillDescent
Control(HDC)isautomatically
selectedwiththisprogramme.
Ifthesystembecomespartiallyinoperablefor
anyreason,itmaynotbepossibletoselect
specialprogrammesandarelevantmessage
willbedisplayedintheMessagecentre.
SAND
Ifaparticipatingvehicle'ssystembecomes
temporarilyinoperable,theGeneral
programmewillbeautomaticallyselected.
Oncethesystemreturnstonormaloperation,
thepreviouslyactiveprogrammewillbe
reactivatedunlesstheignitionhasbeenturned
offinthemeantime.
Thisprogrammeshouldbeused
forterrainwhichispredominantly
soft,drysandordeepgravel.
Note:Ifthevehicleisunabletogaintractionin
extremelysoft,drysand,switchingDSCoff
mayhelp.DSCshouldbeswitchedonagainas
soonasthedifficultyisovercome.
Ifthesystembecomescompletelyinoperable,
allofthespecialprogrammeindicatorswillbe
switchedoffandarelevantmessagewillbe
displayedintheMessagecentre.
Ifthesandtobecrossedisdamp/wet,and
sufficientlydeepenoughtocausethewheelsto
sinkintothesurface,theMud-Ruts
programmeshouldbeused.
WADING
Themaximumadvisablewadingdepthis500
mm(20in).Ifthevehicleremainsstationaryin
waterabovethedoorsilllevel,severeelectrical
damagemayoccur.
DRIVEROVERRIDEOPTIONS
AlthoughDynamicStabilityControl(DSC)is
automaticallyengagedwhenaspecial
programmeisselected,itcanbeturnedoff,if
required.See73,SWITCHINGDSCOFF.
Donotswitchofftheenginewhen
wadingandavoidstopping.Ifthe
enginestalls,restartimmediately.If
waterhasenteredtheengineairintake,
switchoffimmediately.Thevehicle
mustberecoveredfromthewaterand
betransportedtoaDealer/Authorised
Repairer.
HillDescentControl(HDC)isautomatically
engagedforsomeTerrainresponse
programmes.Ifrequired,HDCcanbe
deselectedorengagedindependentlyof
Terrainresponse.See83,SELECTINGHDC.
TheHDCstatuswillbedisplayedinthe
Messagecentre,whetheritisengaged,or
disengaged,bythesystemorbythedriver.
