AIRBAGOPERATION
Airbagdeploymentisdependentontherateat
whichthepassengercompartmentchanges
velocityfollowingthecollision.Circumstances
affectingdifferentcollisions(vehiclespeed,
angleofimpact,typeandsizeofobjecthit,
etc.),varyconsiderablyandwillaffecttherate
ofdecelerationaccordingly.
Fortheairbagstooperatecorrectly,
therooflininganddoorposttrims
mustbeingoodcondition,correctly
fitted,andfreefromobstruction.Any
damage,wear,orincorrectfitment
shouldbereferredtoyour
Dealer/AuthorisedRepairerassoon
aspossibleforexaminationand
repair.
Airbagscannotdeploycorrectlyiftheyare
obstructed.Examplesofobstructionsare:
Anypartofanoccupantsbodyincontact
with,orcloseto,anairbagcover.
Objectsplacedon,orcloseto,anairbag
cover.
Clothing,sunscreens,orothermaterial
hangingfromgrabhandles.
Clothing,cushions,orothermaterial,
coveringseatmountedairbags.
Donotallowpassengerstoobstruct
theoperationoftheairbagsbyplacing
anypartoftheirperson,orany
objects,incontactwith,orcloseto,
anairbagmodule.Onlyuseapproved
accessories(e.g.,seatcovers).
Makesureagapismaintained
betweenthesideofthevehicle,and
theheadandtorso.Thiswillenable
unobstructedinflationofthecurtain,
andseatmountedsideairbags.
Seatcoverswhicharenotapprovedby
LandRover,orspecificallydesignedfor
usewithseatmountedairbags.
Thislistisnotexhaustive,anditremainsthe
responsibilityofthedriverandpassengersto
makesuretheairbagsarenotobstructedinany
way.
Airbagsinflateathighspeeds.To
minimisetheriskofinjury,makesure
allvehicleoccupantswearcorrectly
positionedseatbelts,sitcorrectlyin
theseats,andpositiontheseatsasfar
backasispracticable.
Note:TheairbagsandSRSarenotdesignedto
operateasaresultof:
Rearimpacts.
Airbaginflationtakesplace
Minorfrontimpacts.
Minorsideimpacts.
Heavybraking.
instantaneously,andcannotprotect
againsttheeffectsofsecondary
impacts.Underthesecircumstances,
theonlyprotectionwillbeprovidedby
acorrectlywornseatbelt.
Drivingoverbumpsandpotholes.
Highspeedimpactsmaycause
seriousinjuryordeath,irrespectiveof
safetyfeaturesfittedtoavehicle.
Phonesystemsshouldonlybe
installedbyqualifiedpersonsfamiliar
withtheoperationof,and
requirementsfor,vehiclesfittedwith
SRS.Ifyouareinanydoubt,seek
advicefromyourDealer/Authorised
repairer.
TheairbagSRScannotprovide
protectioninsometypesofimpact.
Underthesecircumstances,theonly
protectionwillbeprovidedbya
correctlywornseatbelt.
