Thewarningindicatorilluminatesatany
timeotherthanthebulbcheck,whenthe
ignitionisturnedon.
Whenanairbaginflates,afine
powderisreleased.Thisisnormal
andnotanindicationofamalfunction.
Thepowdermaycauseirritationtothe
skinandshouldbethoroughlyflushed
fromeyesandanycutsorabrasions.
Whentheignitionisturnedon,adiagnostic
controlunitmonitorsthereadinessofthe
system'selectricalcircuits.Theelementsofthe
SupplementaryRestraintSystem(SRS)being
monitoredinclude:
Airbagsinflateathighspeedandcan
causeinjuries.Tominimisetheriskof
injury,makesurealloccupantswear
correctlypositionedseatbelts,sit
correctlyintheseatsandpositionthe
seatsasfarbackasispracticable.
SRSwarningindicator.
Rotarycoupler.
Airbagmodules.
Seatbeltpre-tensioners(frontseats).
Frontseatbuckleswitches.
Airbagdiagnosticcontrolunit.
Crashandrolloversensors.
Airbagwiringharness.
Airbagdeploymentisaccompaniedby
averyloudnoise,whichmaycause
discomfortandtemporarylossof
hearing.
Afterinflation,someairbag
AIRBAGSERVICEINFORMATION
componentswillbeveryhot.Donot
touchtheairbagcomponentsuntil
theyhavecooledsufficiently.
Donotattempttoservice,repair,
replace,modify,ortamperwithany
partoftheSRS.Thisincludeswiring
orcomponentsinthevicinityofSRS
components.Doingsomaycausethe
systemtotrigger,orrenderthe
systeminoperative.
AIRBAGWARNINGLAMP
Theairbagwarningindicatorismountedinthe
Instrumentpanel,andwillilluminateasabulb
checkwhentheignitionisturnedon.See36,
AIRBAG(AMBER).
Donotuseanyelectricaltest
equipmentordevicesinthevicinityof
SRScomponentsorwiring.Doingso
maycausethesystemtotrigger,or
renderthesysteminoperative.
Ifthewarninglampindicatesthata
faultispresentinthesystem,donot
useachildrestraintonthefront
passengerseat.
Allofthefollowingoperationsshouldonlybe
carriedoutbyaDealer/AuthorisedRepairer,or
suitablyqualifiedperson:
Removalorrepairofanywiringor
componentinthevicinityofanySRS
components.
Installationofelectrical,orelectronic,
equipmentandaccessories.
Modificationtothefrontorsidesofthe
vehicle'sexterior.
Ifanyofthefollowingwarningindicator
conditionsoccur,thevehicleshouldbe
checkedbyyourDealer/AuthorisedRepairer
immediately:
Thewarningindicatorfailstoilluminate
whentheignitionisturnedon.
Thewarningindicatorfailstoextinguish
within6secondsoftheignitionbeing
turnedon.
