Hill descent control (HDC)
Descentspeedwillonlyincreaseonaslope
steepenoughtoprovideadditional
momentum;therefore,useofthe+switchona
gentleslopemaynotincreasethespeed.
BRAKETEMPERATURE
Inextremecircumstances,theHDCsystem
maycausebraketemperaturestoexceedtheir
presetlimits.Ifthisoccurs,thewarningHDC
TEMPORARILYUNAVAILABLEwillbe
displayedintheMessagecentre.HDCwillthen
fadeoutandbecometemporarilyinactive.
WhenusingHDCinmanualtransmission
vehicles,pressingtheclutchpedalwillprevent
HDCfromcontrollingthespeedofdescent.
Ifthebrakepedalispressed,HDCwillbe
overriddenandthebrakeswilloperateas
normal.Whenthebrakepedalisreleased,HDC
willresumecontrolofthedescent.
Oncethebrakeshavereachedanacceptable
temperature,themessagewilldisappear(or
thewarningindicatorwillextinguish)andHDC
will,ifrequired,resumeoperation.
IfHDCisswitchedoffduringadescentviathe
brakepedal,HDCassistancewillfadeout
gradually.Thisistopreventlossofcontrolif
HDCisswitchedoffinerror.HDCwillresume
controlwhenswitchedbackonifassistanceis
stillrequired,butatthespeedthevehicleis
travellingwhenthebrakepedalisreleased.
SYSTEMFAULT
IfafaultisdetectedintheHDCsystem,HDC
FAULTSYSTEMNOTAVAILABLEwillappearin
theMessagecentre.
Ifthefaultisdetectedwhilethesystemis
operating,HDCassistancewillfadeout.
Ifafaultisdetected,contactyour
Dealer/AuthorisedRepairerassoonas
possible.
GRADIENTRELEASECONTROL
(GRC)
WithHDCactivated,ifthevehicleisstoppedon
aslopeusingthefootbrake,GRCwillbecome
active(exceptinTerrainresponseSand
programme).Duringahillascentwhenthefoot
brakeisreleased,GRCwillautomaticallydelay
andgraduatethebrakerelease,toallowthe
vehicletomovesmoothlyaway.When
descendingahill,asimilarbrakeholdand
gradualreleaseisemployedtoprovidea
smoothtransitionintoHDCcontrol.
GRCoperatesinforwardandreversegearsand
requiresnodriverintervention.
WARNINGMESSAGES
Donotattemptasteepdescentifthe
HDCsystemisinoperativeorifany
HDCwarningmessagesaredisplayed
intheMessagecentre.
