CONNECTINGTHEBOOSTERCABLES

Checkthattheboostercablesareclearofany
movingpartsineitherengine,thenstartthe
engineofthedonorvehicleandallowittoidle
forafewminutes.
Alwaysadoptthefollowingprocedure,
ensuringthecablesareconnectedinthe
ordershownbelow:
Nowstartthevehiclewiththedischarged
battery.Oncebothenginesarerunning
normally,allowthemtoidlefortwominutes
beforeswitchingoffthethedonorvehicle
engine.

ConnectoneendoftheREDboostercable
tothepositive(+)terminalofthedonor
battery.
ConnecttheotherendoftheREDbooster
cabletothepositive(+)terminalofthe
dischargedbattery.
DONOTswitchonanyelectricalcircuitson
thepreviouslydisabledvehicleuntilAFTERthe
boostercableshavebeenremoved.
ConnectoneendoftheBLACKbooster
cabletothenegative(-)terminalofthe
DISCHARGEDbattery.
Disconnectingtheboostercablesmustbean
EXACTreversaloftheprocedureusedto
connectthem,ie:disconnecttheBLACKcable
fromthenegative(-)terminalonthedonor
vehicleFIRST.
ConnecttheotherendoftheBLACK
boostercabletothenegative(-)terminal
ofthedonorbattery.
WARNING
Forsafetyreasons:

ALWAYSconnecttheBLACKcabletothe
donorbatteryLAST.
•
ENSUREthateachconnectionissecurely
madeandthatthereisnoriskofthe
clipsaccidentallyslippingorbeing
pulledfromthebatteryterminals.

BEAWAREthatlooseconnections
betweencableclipsandbattery
terminalscouldcausesparking,which
couldleadtoexplosionorfire.
