Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesurethatthe
gearshiftissecurelylatchedinP(Park)(automatic
transmission)orin1(First)(manualtransmission).
Theparkingbrakeisnotrecommendedtostopamovingvehicle.
However,ifthenormalbrakesfail,theparkingbrakecanbeusedtostop
yourvehicleinanemergency.Sincetheparkingbrakeappliesonlythe
rearbrakes,thevehicle’sstoppingdistancewillincreasegreatlyandthe
handlingofyourvehiclewillbeadverselyaffected.
Pullthereleaselevertoreleasethe
brake.Drivingwiththeparking
brakeonwillcausethebrakesto
wearoutquicklyandreducefuel
economy.
STEERING
Yourvehicleisequippedwithpowersteering.Powersteeringusesenergy
fromtheenginetohelpsteerthevehicle.
Topreventdamagetothepowersteeringpump:

Neverholdthesteeringwheeltotheextremerightortheextremeleft
formorethanafewsecondswhentheengineisrunning.
Donotoperatethevehiclewithalowpowersteeringpumpfluidlevel
(belowtheMINmarkonthereservoir).
Ifthepowersteeringsystembreaksdown(oriftheengineisturned
off),youcansteerthevehiclemanually,butittakesmoreeffort.
