Togainaccelerationin
(Overdrive)orDrive(O/DOFF)whenpassing
anothervehicle,pushtheacceleratortothefloor.Thetransmissionwill
downshifttotheappropriategear:third,secondorfirstgear.
Driving with a 5–speed automatic transmission (if equipped)
Yourautomatictransmissionelectronicallycontrolstheshiftfeelbyusing
anadaptivelearningstrategy.Thisfeatureisdesignedtoincrease
durability,andprovideconsistentshiftfeeloverthelifeofthevehicle.Itis
normalforanewtransmissiontoshiftfirmly.Thisoperationisconsidered
normalandwillnotaffectfunctionordurabilityofthetransmission.Once
thevehicleisatoperatingtemperatureitmaytakeseveralshiftsatthe
sameoperatingconditionforthetransmissiontoproperlyadapt.Overtime
theadaptivelearningprocesswillfullyupdatetransmissionoperation.The
morevariedthedrivinghabits,speedandtorque,thelongeritmaytaketo
adaptbutthemorecompletetheprocesswillbe.
Whenthebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryinstalled,the
transmissionmustlearnitsadaptivestrategy.Asaresultofthis,the
transmissionmayshiftfirmly.Thisoperationisconsiderednormaland
willfullyupdatetransmissionoperationtoitsoptimumshiftfeel.
Understanding gearshift positions
Holdthebrakepedaldownwhileyoumovethegearshiftlever
fromP(Park)toanotherposition.Ifyoudonotholdthebrake
pedaldown,yourvehiclemaymoveunexpectedlyandinjuresomeone.
P (Park)
Toputyourvehicleingear,starttheengine,depressthebrakepedal,
thenmovegearshiftleveroutofP(Park).
Alwayscometoacompletestop
beforeshiftingintoP(Park).Make
surethegearshiftleverissecurely
latchedinP(Park).Thisposition
locksthetransmissionandpreventstherearwheelsfromturning.
Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesurethegearshiftis
latchedinP(Park).Turnofftheignitionwheneveryouleave
yourvehicle.
