Starting the engine
Note:Wheneveryoustartyourvehicle,releasethekeyassoonasthe
enginestarts.Excessivecrankingcoulddamagethestarter.

Turnthekeyto4(ON)without
turningthekeyto5(START).If
thereisdifficultyinturningthe
key,rotatethesteeringwheel
untilthekeyturnsfreely.This
conditionmayoccurwhen:

Turnthekeyto5(START),then
releasethekeyassoonasthe
enginestarts.Excessivecrankingcoulddamagethestarter.
Note:Iftheenginedoesnotstartwithinfivesecondsonthefirsttry,
turnthekeytoOFF,wait10secondsandtryagain.Iftheenginestill
failstostart,presstheacceleratortothefloorandtryagain;thiswill
allowtheenginetocrankwiththefuelshutoffincasetheengineis
floodedwithfuel.
Guarding against exhaust fumes
Carbonmonoxideispresentinexhaustfumes.Takeprecautionstoavoid
itsdangerouseffects.
WARNING: Ifyousmellexhaustfumesinsideyourvehicle,
haveyourdealerinspectyourvehicleimmediately.Donotdrive
ifyousmellexhaustfumes.
Important ventilating information
Iftheengineisidlingwhilethevehicleisstoppedforalongperiodof
time,openthewindowsatleastoneinch(2.5cm)oradjusttheheating
orairconditioningtobringinfreshair.
