STARTING THE ENGINE

withoutpressingtheaccelerator
pedalandreleaseassoonasthe
enginestarts.Thekeywillreturnto

Iftheenginedoesnotstartwithinfiveseconds,waittensecondsand
tryagain.

Iftheenginedoesnotstartintwoattemptsorifthetemperatureis
below-12°C(10°F),depresstheacceleratorandstarttheenginewhile
holdingtheacceleratordown.Releasetheacceleratorwhentheengine
starts.
4.
Afteridlingforafewseconds,applythebrakeandreleasetheparking
brake.
Using the engine block heater  (if equipped)
Anengineblockheaterwarmstheenginecoolant,whichimproves
starting,warmsuptheenginefasterandallowstheheater-defroster
systemtorespondquickly.Theyarestronglyrecommendedifyoulivein
aregionwheretemperaturesreach-23°C(-10°F)orbelow.
Forbestresults,plugtheheaterinatleastthreehoursbeforestarting
thevehicle.Usingtheheaterforlongerthanthreehourswillnotharm
theengine,sotheheatercanbepluggedinthenightbeforestartingthe
vehicle.
Topreventelectricalshock,donotuseyourheaterwith
ungroundedelectricalsystemsortwo-pronged(cheater)
adapters.
