Recycled engine coolant
FordMotorCompanyrecommendsthatFordandLincoln-Mercury
dealersuserecycledenginecoolantproducedbyFord-approved
processes.Notallcoolantrecyclingprocessesproducecoolantwhich
meetsFordspecificationESE-M97B44–A,anduseofsuchcoolantmay
harmengineandcoolingsystemcomponents.
Alwaysdisposeofusedautomotivefluidsinaresponsiblemanner.
Followyourcommunity’sregulationsandstandardsforrecyclingand
disposingofautomotivefluids.
Coolant refill capacity
Tofindouthowmuchfluidyourvehicle’scoolingsystemcanhold,refer
toRefillcapacitiesintheCapacitiesandspecificationschapter.
Haveyourdealerchecktheenginecoolingsystemforleaksifyouhave
toaddmorethanaliter(quart)ofenginecoolantpermonth.
Severe winter climate
Ifyoudriveinextremelycoldclimates(lessthan–36°C[–34°F]),itmay
benecessarytoincreasethecoolantconcentrationabove50%.Referto
thechartonthecoolantcontainertoensurethecoolantconcentrationin
yourvehicleissuchthatthecoolantwillnotfreezeatthetemperature
levelinwhichyoudriveduringwintermonths.Neverincreasetheengine
coolantconcentrationabove60%.Leavea50/50mixtureofengine
coolantandwaterinyourvehicleyear-roundinnon-extremeclimates.
