DRIVELINE UNIVERSAL JOINT AND SLIP YOKE
Theuniversaljointsstandardwithyourvehicledonotrequire
lubrication.Iftheoriginaluniversaljointsarereplacedwithuniversal
jointsequippedwithgreasefittings,lubricationwillbenecessary.
BATTERY
Yourvehiclemaybeequippedwitha
Superstartmaintenance-freebattery.
Iftheoriginalequipmentbattery
needsreplacing,itmaybereplaced
withalow-maintenancebattery.The
low-maintenancebatterynormally
doesnotrequireadditionalwater
duringitslifeofservice.However,
forsevereusageorinhigh
temperatureclimates,checkyour
batteryelectrolytelevel,atleast
every24monthsor40,000km
(24,000
miles).Keeptheelectrolyte
ineachcelluptothe‘‘level’’indicator.Donotoverfillthebatterycells.
Iftheelectrolytelevelinthebatteryislow,youcanaddplaintapwater
tothebattery,aslongasyoudonotusehardwater(waterwithahigh
alkalicontent).Ifpossible,however,trytoonlyfillthebatterycellswith
distilledwater.Ifthebatteryneedswateroften,havethecharging
systemchecked.
Forlonger,trouble-freeoperation,keepthetopofthebatterycleanand
dry.Also,makecertainthebatterycablesarealwaystightlyfastenedto
thebatteryterminals.
Ifyouseeanycorrosiononthebatteryorterminals,removethecables
fromtheterminal(s)andcleanwithawirebrush.Youcanneutralizethe
acidwithasolutionofbakingsodaandwater.Reinstallthecableswhen
youaredonecleaningthem,andapplyasmallquantityofgreasetothe
topofeachbatteryterminaltohelppreventcorrosion.
Ifyourbatteryhasacover/shield,makesureitisreinstalled
afterthebatteryisreplaced.
Becauseyourvehicle’sengineiselectronicallycontrolledbyacomputer,
somecontrolconditionsaremaintainedbypowerfromthebattery.When
thebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryisinstalled,theenginemust
