gearshiftissecurelylatchedinP(Park)(automatic
transmission)orin1(First)(manualtransmission).
Theparkingbrakeisnotdesignedtostopamovingvehicle.However,if
thenormalbrakesfail,theparkingbrakecanbeusedtostopyour
vehicleinanemergency.Sincetheparkingbrakeappliesonlytherear
brakes,thevehicle’sstoppingdistancewillbeadverselyaffected.
Pullthereleaselevertoreleasethe
brake.Drivingwiththeparking
brakeonwillcausethebrakesto
wearoutquicklyandreducefuel
economy.
