Seating and safety restraints
Donotleavechildren,unreliableadults,orpetsunattendedin
yourvehicle.
Toimprovethefitoflapandshoulderbeltsonchildrenwhohave
outgrownchildsafetyseats,Fordrecommendsuseofabelt-positioning
boosterseatthatislabelledasconformingtoallFederalmotorvehicle
safetystandards.Belt-positioningboosterseatsraisethechildand
provideashorter,firmerseatingcushionthatencouragessaferseating
postureandbetterfitoflapandshoulderbeltsonthechild.
Abelt-positioningboostershouldbeusediftheshoulderbeltrestsin
frontofthechild’sfaceorneck,orifthelapbeltdoesnotfitsnuglyon
boththighs,orifthethighsaretooshorttoletthechildsitalltheway
backontheseatcushionwhenthelowerlegshangovertheedgeofthe
seatcushion.Youmaywishtodiscussthespecialneedsofyourchild
withyourpediatrician.
SAFETY SEATS FOR CHILDREN
Child and infant or child  safety seats
Useasafetyseatthatisrecommendedforthesizeandweightofthe
child.Carefullyfollowallofthemanufacturer’sinstructionswiththe
safetyseatyouputinyourvehicle.Ifyoudonotinstallandusethe
safetyseatproperly,thechildmaybeinjuredinasuddenstopor
collision.
Wheninstallingachildsafetyseat:
Usethecorrectsafetybeltbuckle
forthatseatingposition.
Makesurethetongueissecurely
fastenedinthebuckle.
Keepthebucklereleasebutton
pointingupandawayfromthe
safetyseat,withthetongue
betweenthechildseatandthe
releasebutton,toprevent
accidentalunbuckling.
Placeseatbackinuprightposition.
