Atleastonceamonthandbeforelongtrips,inspecteachtireandcheck
thetirepressurewithatiregauge(includingspare,ifequipped).Inflate
alltirestotheinflationpressurerecommendedbyFordMotorCompany.
Useatiregaugetocheckthetireinflationpressure,includingthespare
(ifequipped),atleastmonthlyandbeforelongtrips.Youarestrongly
urgedtobuyareliabletirepressuregauge,asautomaticservicestation
gaugesmaybeinaccurate.Fordrecommendstheuseofadigitalor
dial-typetirepressuregaugeratherthanastick-typetirepressuregauge.
Usetherecommendedcoldinflationpressureforoptimumtire
performanceandwear.Under-inflationorover-inflationmaycause
uneventreadwearpatterns.
Under-inflationisthemostcommoncauseoftirefailuresand
mayresultinseveretirecracking,treadseparationorЉblowoutЉ,
withunexpectedlossofvehiclecontrolandincreasedriskofinjury.
Under-inflationincreasessidewallflexingandrollingresistance,
resultinginheatbuildupandinternaldamagetothetire.Italsomay
resultinunnecessarytirestress,irregularwear,lossofvehiclecontrol
andaccidents.Atirecanloseuptohalfofitsairpressureandnot
appeartobeflat!
AlwaysinflateyourtirestotheFordrecommendedinflationpressure
evenifitislessthanthemaximuminflationpressureinformationfound
onthetire.TheFordrecommendedtireinflationpressureisfoundon
theSafetyComplianceCertificationLabelorTireLabelwhichislocated
ontheB-Pillarortheedgeofthedriver’sdoor.Failuretofollowthetire
pressurerecommendationscancauseuneventreadwearpatternsand
adverselyaffectthewayyourvehiclehandles.
MaximumPermissibleInflationPressureisthetiremanufacturer’s
maximumpermissiblepressureand/orthepressureatwhichthe
maximumloadcanbecarriedbythetire.Thispressureisnormally
higherthanthemanufacturer’srecommendedcoldinflationpressure
whichcanbefoundontheSafetyComplianceCertificationLabelorTire
LabelwhichislocatedontheB-Pillarortheedgeofthedriver’sdoor.
Thecoldinflationpressureshouldneverbesetlowerthanthe
recommendedpressureontheSafetyComplianceCertificationLabelor
TireLabel.
Whenweathertemperaturechangesoccur,tireinflationpressuresalso
change.A10°F(6°C)temperaturedropcancauseacorrespondingdrop
of1psi(7kPa)ininflationpressure.Checkyourtirepressures
frequentlyandadjustthemtotheproperpressurewhichcanbefound
ontheSafetyComplianceCertificationLabelorTireLabel.
