Ifyouareexperiencingaroughorrollingidleafterstart-upwiththe
outsidetemperatureabove80°F(27°C),theidleshouldimprovewithin

to30seconds.Iftheproblemspersistbelowthistemperature,see
yourauthorizeddealer.
If the engine fails to start using the preceding instructions
(flexible fuel vehicles only)

Pressandholddowntheaccelerator1/3to1/2waytofloor,then
cranktheengine.
2.
Whentheenginestarts,releasethekey,thengraduallyreleasethe
acceleratorpedalastheenginespeedsup.Iftheenginestillfailstostart,
repeatStep1.
Guarding against exhaust fumes
Carbonmonoxideispresentinexhaustfumes.Takeprecautionstoavoid
itsdangerouseffects.
Ifyousmellexhaustfumesinsideyourvehicle,haveyourdealer
inspectyourvehicleimmediately.Donotdriveifyousmell
exhaustfumes.
Important ventilating information
Iftheengineisidlingwhilethevehicleisstoppedforalongperiodof
time,openthewindowsatleastoneinch(2.5cm)oradjusttheheating
orairconditioningtobringinfreshair.
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (IF EQUIPPED)
Anengineblockheaterwarmstheenginecoolantwhichaidsinstarting
andheater/defrosterperformance.Useofanengineblockheateris
stronglyrecommendedifyouliveinaregionwheretemperaturesreach
-10°F
(-23°C)orbelow.Forbestresults,plugtheheaterinatleastthree
hoursbeforestartingthevehicle.Theheatercanbepluggedinthenight
beforestartingthevehicle.
Toreducetheriskofelectricalshock,donotuseyourheater
withungroundedelectricalsystemsortwo-pronged(cheater)
adapters.
