Thissystemisnotdesignedtopreventcontactwithsmallor
movingobjects.Thesystemisdesignedtoprovideawarningto
assistthedriverindetectinglargestationaryobjectstoavoiddamaging
thevehicle.Thesystemmaynotdetectsmallerobjects,particularly
thoseclosetotheground.
Certainadd-ondevicessuchaslargetrailerhitches,bikeor
surfboardracksandanydevicethatmayblockthenormal
detectionzoneoftheRSSsystemmaycreatefalsebeeps.
TheRSSdetectsobstaclesupto

feet(2meters)fromtherear
bumperwithadecreasedcoverage
areaattheoutercornersofthe
bumper,(refertothefiguresfor
approximatezonecoverageareas).
Asyoumoveclosertotheobstacle,
therateofthetoneincreases.When
theobstacleislessthan10inches
(25.0
cm)away,thetonewillsound
continuously.IftheRSSdetectsa
stationaryorrecedingobjectfurther
than10inches(25.0cm)fromthe
sideofthevehicle,thetonewill
soundforonlythreeseconds.Once
thesystemdetectsanobject
approaching,thetonewillsound
again.
TheRSSmayhavereduced
performanceoranincreasedchance
offalsedetectionifthetailgateis
notlockedandintheuprightposition.Ifthetailgateisdown,theRSS
tonemaybeheardintermittentlyorcontinuously.Thetonemayalsobe
heardifitemsinthetruckbedprotruderearwardoutsidethebed.
