The gear shifting process is continuously adapted, de-
pendent on the driving style, the driving situation, and
theroadcharacteristics.

• preciseThe electronically-controlledshiftschedule.Thetransmissiontransmissionelectronicsprovidesarea
self-calibrating.Therefore,thefirstfewshiftsonanew
vehiclemaybesomewhatabruptorsoftuntilafterthe
break-in period. This is a normal condition, and pre-
cisionshiftswilldevelopwithinafewshiftcycles.
TheshiftleverisautomaticallylockedwhileinthePARK
position. To move the shift lever out of the PARK
position,thebrakepedalmustbefirmlydepressedbefore
theshiftlockwillrelease.
NOTE:
•
Afterselectinganydrivingposition,waitamomentto
allow the gear to engage fully before accelerating,
especiallywhentheengineiscold.
Movetheshiftlevertothedesiredpositiononlywhenthe
engineisidlingnormallyandthebrakepedalisapplied.
Donotreleasethebrakepedaluntilreadytodrive.The
vehiclemayotherwiseacceleratequicklywhentheshift
leverisinDRIVEorREVERSEposition.

Ifthereisaneedtorestarttheengine,besuretocycle
thekeytotheLOCKpositionbeforerestarting.Trans-
missionengagementmaybedelayedupto10seconds
after restart if the key is not cycled to the LOCK
positionfirst.
