BAS cannot prevent accidents, including those re-
sulting from excessive speed in turns, driving on
veryslipperysurfaces,orhydroplaning.Onlyasafe,
attentive, and skillful driver can prevent accidents.
The capabilities of a BAS-equipped vehicle must
neverbeexploitedinarecklessordangerousmanner
thatcouldjeopardizetheuser’ssafetyorthesafetyof
others.
TheESPusessensorsinthevehicletodeterminethepath
thatthedriverintendstosteerthevehicleandcompares
ittotheactualpathofthevehicle.Whentheactualpath
does not match the intended path, the ESP applies the
brakeoftheappropriatewheeltoassistincounteracting
theconditionofoversteerorundersteer.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
Thissystemenhancesdirectionalcontrolandstabilityof
the vehicle under various driving conditions. The ESP
corrects for oversteering and understeering the vehicle
byapplyingthebrakeoftheappropriatewheel.Engine
