The following indicators should be used to ensure that
youhaveengagedtheshiftleverinthePARKposition:
NEUTRAL
InNEUTRAL,nopoweristransmittedfromtheengineto
thedriveaxle.Whenthebrakesarereleased,thevehicle
canbemovedfreely(pushedortowed).Donotengage
NEUTRALposition while driving except to coast when
thevehicleisindangerofskidding(e.g.,onicyroads).

WhenshiftingintoPARK,movetheshiftleverallthe
wayforwardandleftuntilitstopsandisfullyseated.
Look at the shift indicator display on the instrument
paneltoensureitisinthePposition.
Theenginemaybestartedinthisrange.Usethisrange
forstartingyourvehicleifitismovingorbeingtowed.
CAUTION!

Damagetotheshiftercouldresultiftheshiftleveris
moved out of PARK before the ignition is turned
fromtheLOCKtoONposition.
Coastingthevehicleordrivingforanyotherreason
with the shift lever in NEUTRAL can result in
transmissiondamage.
REVERSE
ShiftintoREVERSEgearonlywhenthevehicleiscom-
pletelystopped.
