Inspect the belt system periodically, checking for cuts,
frays,andlooseparts.Damagedpartsmustbereplaced
immediately.Donotdisassembleormodifythesystem.
The best protection against carbon monoxide entry into
thevehiclebodyisaproperlymaintainedengineexhaust
system.
Front seat belt assemblies must be replaced after a
collision.Rearseatbeltassembliesmustbereplacedafter
acollisioniftheyhavebeendamaged(i.e.,bentretractor,
tornwebbing,etc.).Ifthereisanyquestionregardingbelt
orretractorcondition,replacethebelt.
Wheneverachangeisnoticedinthesoundoftheexhaust
system, when exhaust fumes can be detected inside the
vehicle, or when the underside or rear of the vehicle is
damaged, have a competent mechanic inspect the com-
pleteexhaustsystemandadjacentbodyareasforbroken,
damaged, deteriorated, or mispositioned parts. Open
seamsorlooseconnectionscouldpermitexhaustfumes
to seep into the passenger compartment. In addition,
inspecttheexhaustsystemeachtimethevehicleisraised
forlubricationoroilchange.Replaceasrequired.
AirbagWarningLight
Thelightshouldcomeonandremainonforsixtoeight
secondsasabulbcheckwhentheignitionswitchisfirst
turnedON.Ifthelightisnotlitduringstarting,seeyour
authorizeddealer.Ifthelightstayson,flickers,orcomes
onwhiledriving,havethesystemcheckedbyanautho-
rizeddealer.
