Four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS)
Yourvehicleisequippedwithananti-lockbrakingsystem(ABS).This
systemhelpsyoumaintainsteeringcontrolduringemergencystopsby
keepingthebrakesfromlocking.NoisefromtheABSpumpmotorand
brakepedalpulsationmaybeobservedduringABSbrakingandthe
brakepedalmaysuddenlytravelalittlefartherassoonasABSbrakingis
doneandnormalbrakeoperationresumes.Thesearenormal
characteristicsoftheABSandshouldbenoreasonforconcern.
UsingABS
Whenhardbrakingisrequired,applycontinuousforceonthebrake
pedal.Donotpumpthebrakepedalsincethiswillreducethe
effectivenessoftheABSandwillincreaseyourvehicle’sstopping
distance.TheABSwillbeactivatedimmediately,allowingyoutoretain
steeringcontrolduringhardbrakingandonslipperysurfaces.However,
theABSdoesnotdecreasestoppingdistance.

clustermomentarilyilluminates
ABS
whentheignitionisturnedon.If
thelightdoesnotilluminateduring
startup,remainsonorflashes,the
ABSmaybedisabledandmayneedtobeserviced.
EvenwhentheABSisdisabled,
normalbrakingisstilleffective.If
yourBRAKEwarninglamp
illuminateswiththeparkingbrake
released,haveyourbrakesystem
servicedimmediatelybyanauthorizeddealer.

Brake override
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrakeoverridefeature.Intheeventthe
acceleratorpedalbecomesstuckorentrapped,applyingsteadyandfirm
pressuretothebrakepedalwillbothslowthevehicleandreduceengine
power.Ifyouexperiencethiscondition,applythebrakesandbringyour
vehicletoasafestop.Turntheengineoff,shifttoP(Park)andapply
theparkingbrake,andtheninspecttheacceleratorpedalforany
interferences.Ifnonearefoundandtheconditionpersists,haveyour
vehicletowedtothenearestdealer.
