WARNING:Trailerswaycontroldoesnotpreventatrailerfrom
swaying,itmitigatestheswayfromincreasingonceithas
occurred.TSCcannotstopalltrailersfromswaying.Ifyouare
experiencingtrailersway,itislikelythatthetrailerisimproperly
loadedforthecorrecttongueweightorthespeedofthevehicleand
traileristoohigh.Pullthevehicle-trailerovertoasafelocationto
checkthetrailerweightdistributionandtongueloadandreducespeed
toasafelevelwhiletowing.Iftrailerswayisexperienced,SLOW
DOWN.Alwaysusecautionwhentowingatrailerandfollowthe
tongueweightrecommendations.RefertotheTrailertowingsection
intheTiresWheelsandLoadingchapterofthisowner’sguidefor
moreinformationontowingatrailerwithyourvehicle.
Duringtrailerswaycontrolevents,thestabilitycontrollightinthe
instrumentclusterwillflashmomentarily.Insomecases,whentrailer
swayisdetected,thevehiclespeedistoohighandmaybeatorabovea
speedatwhichtrailerswaywillgrowcontinuously.Thismaycausethe
systemtoactivatemultipletimes,andyoumayexperienceaslight
decelerationofthevehicle.
Disablingtrailerswaycontrol
Trailerswaycontrolcanbedisabledduringanykeycycle.Pressingand
holdingthestabilitycontrolbuttonformorethanfivesecondswill
disablethetrailerswaycontrolfeatureandthestabilitycontrollightwill
flashmomentarilyandthenilluminatesolidforthatignitioncycle.Trailer
swaycontrolcanbere-enabledbymomentarilypressingthestability
controlbutton.Trailerswaycontrolwillalsobere-enabledateachnew
keycycle.
WARNING:Turningofftrailerswaycontrolincreasestheriskof
lossofvehiclecontrol,seriousinjury,ordeath.Forddoesnot
recommenddisablingthisfeatureexceptinsituationswherespeed
reductionmaybedetrimental(e.g.,hillclimbing),thedriverhas
significanttrailertowingexperience,andcancontroltrailerswayand
maintainsafeoperation.
