Service Data Recording
Servicedatarecordersinyourvehiclearecapableofcollectingand
storingdiagnosticinformationaboutyourvehicle.Thispotentially
includesinformationabouttheperformanceorstatusofvarioussystems
andmodulesinthevehicle,suchasengine,throttle,steeringorbrake
systems.Inordertoproperlydiagnoseandserviceyourvehicle,Ford
MotorCompany,FordofCanada,andserviceandrepairfacilitiesmay
accessorshareamongthemvehiclediagnosticinformationreceived
throughadirectconnectiontoyourvehiclewhendiagnosingorservicing
yourvehicle.ForU.S.only(ifequipped),ifyouchoosetousetheSYNC
VehicleHealthReport,youconsentthatcertaindiagnosticinformation
mayalsobeaccessedelectronicallybyFordMotorCompanyandFord
authorizedservicefacilities,andthatthediagnosticinformationmaybe
usedforanypurpose.SeeyourSYNCsupplementformoreinformation.
Event Data Recording
Thisvehicleisequippedwithaneventdatarecorder(EDR).The
mainpurposeofanEDRistorecord,incertaincrashornear
crash-likesituations,suchasanairbagdeploymentorhittinga
roadobstacle;thisdatawillassistinunderstandinghowa
vehicle’ssystemsperformed.TheEDRisdesignedtorecorddata
relatedtovehicledynamicsandsafetysystemsforashortperiod
oftime,typically30secondsorless.TheEDRinthisvehicleis
designedtorecordsuchdataas:

Howvarioussystemsinyourvehiclewereoperating;
Whetherornotthedriverandpassengerseatbeltswere
buckled/fastened;

Howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheaccelerator
and/orthebrakepedal;and
•

Howfastthevehiclewastravelling;and
Wherethedriverwaspositioningthesteeringwheel.
Thisdatacanhelpprovideabetterunderstandingofthe
circumstancesinwhichcrashesandinjuriesoccur.
