thepassengerairbagisoperational.

PASSENGER AIRBAG
IftheOFFlightisilluminatedwhenthepassengerairbag
ON/OFFswitchisintheONpositionandtheignitionswitchis
ON,havethepassengerairbagON/OFFswitchservicedatyourFord
orLincoln-Mercurydealerimmediately.
ThepassengersideairbagshouldalwaysbeON(theairbagOFFlight
shouldnotbeilluminated)unlessthepassengerisapersonwhomeets
therequirementsstatedeitherinCategory1,2or3ofthe
NHTSA/TransportCanadadeactivationcriteriawhichfollows.
Thesafetybeltsforthedriverandrightfrontpassengerseating
positionshavebeenspecificallydesignedtofunctiontogether
withtheairbagsincertaintypesofcrashes.WhenyouturnOFFyour
airbag,younotonlylosetheprotectionoftheairbag,youalsomay
reducetheeffectivenessofyoursafetybeltsystem,whichwas
designedtoworkwiththeairbag.Ifyouarenotapersonwhomeets
therequirementsstatedintheNHTSA/TransportCanadadeactivation
criteriaturningOFFtheairbagcanincreasetheriskofseriousinjury
ordeathinacollision.
