pressurerecommendationscanadverselyaffectthewayyourvehicle
handles.DonotexceedtheFordMotorCompanyrecommendedpressure
evenifitislessthanthemaximumpressureallowedforthetire.
Eachdaybeforeyoudrive,check
yourtires.Ifonelookslowerthan
theothers,useatiregaugetocheck
pressureofalltires,andadjustif
required.Checktirepressurewitha
tiregaugeeveryfewweeks
(includingspare).Safeoperation
requirestiresthatareneither
underinflatednoravehiclewhichis
overloaded.
Periodicallyinspectthetiretreadsandremovestones,nails,glassor
otherobjectsthatmaybewedgedinthetreadgrooves.Checkforholes
orcutsthatmaypermitairleakagefromthetireandmakenecessary
repairs.
Inspectthetiresidewallsforcuts,bruisesandotherdamage.Ifinternal
damagetothetireissuspected,havethetiredemountedandinspected
incaseitneedstoberepairedorreplaced.
MaintenanceandModifications
Thesuspensionandsteeringsystemsonyourvehiclehavebeendesigned
andtestedtoprovidebothreliableandreasonablypredictable
performancewhetherloadedoremptyanddurableloadcarrying
capability.Forthisreason,FordMotorCompanystronglyrecommends
thatyoudonotmakemodificationssuchasaddingorremovingparts
(suchasliftkitsorstabilizerbars)orbyusingreplacementpartsnot
equivalenttotheoriginalfactoryequipment.
Anymodificationstoavehiclethatraisethecenterofgravitycanmake
itmorelikelythevehiclewillrolloverasaresultofalossofcontrol.
FordMotorCompanyrecommendsthatcautionbeusedwithanyvehicle
equippedwithahighloadordevice(suchasladderracksorpickupbox
cover).
