YourFFVwilloperatewellonordinary“Regular”unleadedgasoline,but
onlythehighestqualityfuelethanolwillprovidethesamelevelof
protectionandperformance.ToidentifyifyourvehicleisanFFV,check
yourVINorthelabelontheinsideofyourfuelfillerdoor.When
checkingtheVIN,lookfortheenginetypeidentifier(8thcharacter).If
yourvehicleisanFFV,thenthecharacterwillbelabeledasa“K.”
Ifyouoperateyourvehicle50%ormoreofthetimeonethanol,you
shouldfollowadifferentmaintenanceschedule.SeetheScheduled
MaintenanceGuideformoreinformation.
Ifyouareexperiencingaroughorrollingidleafterstart-upwiththe
outsidetemperatureabove27°C(80°F),theidleshouldimprovewithin
10
to30seconds.Iftheproblemspersistbelowthistemperature,see
yourdealeroraqualifiedservicetechnician.
Cleaner air
Fordendorsestheuseofreformulated“cleaner-burning”gasolinesto
improveairquality.
Running out of fuel
Avoidrunningoutoffuelbecausethissituationmayhaveanadverse
affectonpowertraincomponents.
Ifyouhaverunoutoffuel:

YoumayneedtocycletheignitionfromOFFtoONseveraltimesafter
refueling,toallowthefuelsystemtopumpthefuelfromthetankto
theengine.

Your“CheckEngine”indicatormaycomeon.Formoreinformationon
the“CheckEngine”indicator,refertotheInstrumentCluster
chapter.
Fuel Filter
Forfuelfilterreplacement,seeyourdealeroraqualifiedservice
technician.Refertothescheduledmaintenanceguidefortheappropriate
intervalsforchangingthefuelfilter.
ReplacethefuelfilterwithanauthorizedMotorcraftpart.The
customerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamagetothefuelsystem
ifanauthorizedMotorcraftfuelfilterisnotused.
