Anti-lock brake system (ABS)
Thisvehicleisequippedwithananti-lockbrakingsystem(ABS).Anoise
fromthehydraulicpumpmotorandpulsationinthepedalmaybe
observedduringABSbrakingevents.Pedalpulsationcoupledwithnoise
whilebrakingunderpanicconditionsoronloosegravel,bumps,wetor
snowyroadsisnormalandindicatesproperfunctioningofthevehicle’s
anti-lockbrakesystem.Ifthevehiclehascontinuousvibrationorshudder
inthesteeringwheelwhilebraking,thevehicleshouldbeinspectedbya
qualifiedservicetechnician.
TheABSoperatesbydetectingthe
onsetofwheellockupduringbrake
applicationsandcompensatesfor
thistendency.Thewheelsare
preventedfromlockingevenwhen
thebrakesarefirmlyapplied.The

UsingfourwheelABS

Inanemergencyorwhenmaximumefficiencyfromthefourwheel
ABSisrequired,applycontinuousforceonthebrake.Thefourwheel
ABSwillbeactivatedimmediately,thusallowingyoutoretainfull
steeringcontrolofyourvehicleand,providingthereissufficient
space,willenableyoutoavoidobstaclesandbringthevehicletoa
controlledstop.

Theanti-locksystemdoesnotreducestoppingdistance.Alwaysleave
enoughroombetweenyourvehicleandthevehicleinfrontofyouto
stop.
Werecommendthatyoufamiliarizeyourselfwiththisbraking
technique.However,avoidtakinganyunnecessaryrisks.
