pedaldepressed.Toavoidunwantedvehiclemovement,alwayssetthe
parkingbrake.

ON,allelectricalcircuitsoperational.Warninglightsilluminated.Key

START,crankstheengine.Releasethekeyassoonastheengine
starts.

Enginestartingiscontrolledbythepowertraincontrolsystem.This
systemmeetsallCanadianInterference-CausingEquipmentstandard
requirementsregulatingtheimpulseelectricalfieldstrengthofradio
noise.
Whenstartingafuel-injectedengine,avoidpressingtheaccelerator
beforeorduringstarting.Onlyusetheacceleratorwhenyouhave
difficultystartingtheengine.Formoreinformationonstartingthe
vehicle,refertoStartingtheengineinthischapter.
Extendedidlingathighenginespeedscanproduceveryhigh
temperaturesintheengineandexhaustsystem,creatingtherisk
offireorotherdamage.
