Thismodegivesyouthefeelofdrivinga
manualtransaxlevehiclebyoperatingthe
shiftleverandallowsyoutocontrol
enginerpmandtorquetothefrontwheels
muchlikeamanualtransaxlewhenmore
controlisdesired.
Shiftpositionindicator
Inmanualshiftmode,the“M”oftheshift
positionindicatorintheinstrumentpanel
illuminates.
Gearpositionindicator
Thenumeralfortheselectedgear
illuminates.
Tochangetomanualshiftmode,shiftthe
leverfromDtoM.
NOTE
Shift position indicator
Changing tomanualmodecanbedonewhile
drivingthevehiclewithnodamageoccurring
tothetransaxle.
D range/gear position indicator
NOTE
Ifthegearscannotbeshifteddownwhen
l
drivingathigherspeeds,thegearposition
indicatorwillflashtwicetosignalthatthe
gearscannotbeshifteddown.
Toreturntoautomaticshiftmode,shift
theleverfromMtoD.
(2.5-liter enginemodel)
l
Iftheautomatic transaxle fluid(ATF)
temperature becomestoohigh,thereisthe
possibility thatthetransaxlewillswitchto
automatic shiftmode,canceling manual
shiftmodeandturningoffthegearposition
indicatorillumination. Thisisanormal
functiontoprotecttheAT.AftertheATF
temperature hasdecreased,thegear
positionindicator illumination turnsback
onanddrivinginmanualshiftmodeis
restored.
NOTE
Ifyouchangetomanualshiftmodewhen
l
thevehicleisstopped,thegearwillshiftto
M1.

Ifyouchangetomanualshiftmodewithout
depressingtheaccelerator pedalwhen
drivinginDrange,5thgear,thegearwill
shifttoM4.
