Modifyingthecomponentsorwiring

dangerous.Youcouldaccidentally
activateitormakeitinoperable
whichwouldpreventitfrom
activatinginanaccident.The
occupantsorrepairerscouldbe
seriouslyinjured.
Iftheairbag/frontseatbeltpretensioner
systemisworkingproperly,thewarning
lightilluminateswhentheignitionis
switchedONoraftertheengineis
cranked.Thewarninglightturnsoffafter
aspecifiedperiodoftime.
Properlydisposeofthepretensioner
system:
Improperdisposalofthepretensioner
systemoravehiclewithnon-
deactivatedpretensionersis
Asystemmalfunctionisindicatedifthe
warninglightconstantlyflashes,
constantlyilluminatesordoesnot
illuminateatallwhentheignitionis
switchedON.Ifanyoftheseoccur,
consultanAuthorizedMazdaDealeras
soonaspossible.Thesystemmaynot
workinanaccident.

Thepretensioner systemwillactivateina
moderate orgreaterfrontalornear-frontal
collision. Thepretensioner systemforthe
frontpassenger isdesignedtoonlydeploy
inaccordancewiththetotalseatedweight
onthefrontpassenger seat.Itwillnot
activateinmostrollovers,sideorrear
impacts.
Nevertamperwiththeairbag/
pretensionersystemsandalwayshave
anAuthorizedMazdaDealerperform
allservicingandrepairs:
Self-servicingortamperingwiththe
systemsisdangerous.Anairbag/
pretensionercouldaccidentally
activateorbecomedisabledcausing
seriousinjuryordeath.
Somesmoke(non-toxic gas)willbe
releasedwhentheairbagsand
l
pretensioners deploy.Thisdoesnotindicate
afire.Thisgasnormallyhasnoeffecton
occupants, however,thosewithsensitive
skinmayexperience lightskinirritation. If
residuefromthedeployment oftheairbags
orthefrontpretensioner systemgetsonthe
skinorintheeyes,washitoffassoonas
possible.
