Yourvehicleisequippedwithafrontpassengerseatweightsensorsasapartofthe
supplementalrestraintsystem.(page2-34).Thesesensorsarelocatedunderbothofthe
frontpassengerseatrails.Thesesensorsdeterminethetotalseatedweightonthefront
passengerseat.TheSASunitisdesignedtopreventthefrontpassengerfrontandsideair
bagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemfromdeployingifthetotalseatedweightislessthan
approximately30kg(66lbs).
Toreducethechanceofinjuriescausedbydeploymentofthefrontpassengerairbag,the
systemdeactivatesthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandalsotheseatbelt
pretensionersystemwhen:
Thereisnopassengerinthefrontpassengerseat.(Thefrontpassengerairbag

deactivationindicatorlightdoesnotilluminate.)
Thetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatislessthanapproximately30kg(66

Thissystemshutsoffthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensioner
system,somakesurethefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates
accordingtothefollowingtable.
Theairbag/frontseatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesandthefront
passengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminatesifthesensorshaveapossible
malfunction.Ifthishappens,thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbelt
pretensionersystemwillnotdeploy.

Thisindicatorlightilluminatestoremindyouthatthefrontpassengerfrontandsideair
bagsandseatbeltpretensionerwillnotdeployduringacollision.
Ifthefrontpassengerweightsensorsareworkingproperly,theindicatorlightilluminates
whentheignitionisswitchedON.Afteraspecifiedperiodoftimeitgoesout.
