ØWhenthewiperleverisinthe
AUTOpositionandtheignitionis
switchedON,thewipersmay
moveautomaticallyinthe
followingcases:
Ø Ifthewindshieldabovetherain
sensoristouched.
Ø Ifthewindshieldabovetherain
sensoriswipedwithacloth.
Ø Ifthewindshieldisstruckwith
ahandorotherobject.
Ø Iftherainsensorisstruckwith
ahandorotherobjectfrom
insidethevehicle.
Keephandsandscrapersclearof
thewindshieldwhentheignitionis
switchedONasfingerscouldbe
pinchedorthewipersandwiper
bladesdamagedwhenthey
activateautomatically.
Ifyouaregoingtocleanthe
windshield,besurethewipersare
turnedoffcompletely-thisis
particularlyimportantwhen
clearingiceandsnow-whenitis
particularlytemptingtoleavethe
enginerunning.
NOTE
Switching theauto-wiper leverfromthe
OFFtotheAUTOpositionwhiledrivingat
avehiclespeedof4km/h(2mph)orhigher
(orafterdrivingthevehicle)activates the
windshield wipersonce,afterwhichthey
operateaccordingtotherainfallamount.
Theauto-wipercontrolmaynotoperate
whentherainsensortemperature isabout

10°C(14°F)orlower,orabout85°C
(185°F)orhigher.
Ifthewindshield iscoatedwithwater
repellent,therainsensormaynotbeableto
sensetheamountofrainfallcorrectlyand
auto-wipercontrolmaynotoperate
properly.
Ifdirtorforeignmatter(e.g.iceormatter
containing saltwater)adherestothe
windshield abovetherainsensororifthe
windshield isiced,itcouldcausethewipers
tomoveautomatically. However,ifthe
wiperscannotremovethisice,dirtor
foreignmatter,theauto-wipercontrolwill
stopoperation. Inthiscase,pullthewiper
levertothelowspeedorhighspeed
positionformanualoperation, orremove
theice,dirtorforeignmatterbyhandto
restoretheauto-wiperoperation.
