howeverthisdoesnotindicateamalfunction.
Thecurtainairbagisalwaysreadytoinflateandisnotdeactivatedlikethefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbag.
Ifthefrontpassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightdoesnotilluminatewhenthe
ignitionisswitchedONanddoesnotilluminateasindicatedintheabovechart,donot
allowachildtositinthefrontpassengerseat;contacttheAuthorizedMazdaDealeras
soonaspossible.Thesystemmaynotworkproperlyinanaccident.
WARNING
Donotdecreasethetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat:
Whenanadultorlargechildsitsonthefrontpassengerseat,decreasingthetotal
seatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatfromthetotalseatedweightof
approximately42kg(93lbs)requiredforairbagdeploymentisdangerous.Thefront
passengerseatweightsensorswilldetectthereducedtotalseatedweightcondition
andthefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystem
willnotdeployduringanaccident.Thefrontpassengerwillnothavethe
supplementaryprotectionoftheairbag,whichcouldresultinseriousinjury.
Decreasingthetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatfromthetotalseated
weightofapproximately42kg(93lbs)couldresultinanairbagnotdeployingunder
thefollowingconditions,forexample:
ØArearpassengerpushesuponthefrontpassengerseatwiththeirfeet.
ØLuggageorotheritemsplacedunderthefrontpassengerseatorbetweenthe
frontpassengerseatanddriverseatthatpushupthefrontpassengerseat
bottom.
ØThefrontpassengerseatoccupantsitsinamannerthatdoesnotplacetheentire
weightoftheoccupantontheseatsuchasbysittingtooclosetothedoor,
graspingtheassistgriportherimofthemoonroofandsittingwiththeseatback
reclinedtoofar.
ØAnyaccessorieswhichmightdecreasethetotalseatedweightonthefront
passengerseatareattachedtothefrontpassengerseat.
Thefrontpassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemswill
deactivateifthetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseatiscloseto30kg(66
lbs)andtheywillreactivatebeforetheweightexceeds42kg(93lbs).
