moderatespeed,bucklethenunbucklethesafetybelt.

ThiswilldisableBeltMinder௢ifitiscurrentlyenabled,orenable
BeltMinder௢ifitiscurrentlydisabled.

ConfirmationofdisablingBeltMinder௢isprovidedbyflashingthe
safetybeltwarninglightfourtimespersecondforthreeseconds.
8.
ConfirmationofenablingBeltMinder௢isprovidedbyflashingthe
safetybeltwarninglightfourtimespersecondforthreeseconds,
followedbythreesecondswiththesafetybeltwarninglightoff,then
followedbyflashingthesafetybeltwarninglightfourtimespersecond
forthreesecondsagain.
9.
Afterreceivingconfirmation,thedeactivation/activationprocedureis
complete.
Safety belt maintenance
Inspectthesafetybeltsystemsperiodicallytomakesuretheywork
properlyandarenotdamaged.Inspectthesafetybeltstomakesure
therearenonicks,tearsorcuts.Replaceifnecessary.Allsafetybelt
assemblies,includingretractors,buckles,frontsafetybeltbuckle
assemblies,bucklesupportassemblies(slidebar-ifequipped),shoulder
beltheightadjusters(ifequipped),shoulderbeltguideonseatback(if
equipped),childsafetyseatLATCHandtetheranchors,andattaching
hardware,shouldbeinspectedafteracollision.FordMotorCompany
recommendsthatallsafetybeltassembliesinuseinvehiclesinvolvedin
acollisionbereplaced.However,ifthecollisionwasminoranda
qualifiedtechnicianfindsthatthebeltsdonotshowdamageand
continuetooperateproperly,theydonotneedtobereplaced.Safety
beltassembliesnotinuseduringacollisionshouldalsobeinspectedand
replacedifeitherdamageorimproperoperationisnoted.
Failuretoinspectandifnecessaryreplacethesafetybelt
assemblyundertheaboveconditionscouldresultinsevere
personalinjuriesintheeventofacollision.
Forpropercareofsoiledsafetybelts,refertoInteriorintheCleaning
chapter.
