Four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS)
YourvehicleisequippedwithanAnti-lockBrakingSystem(ABS).This
systemhelpsyoumaintainsteeringcontrolduringemergencystopsby
keepingthebrakesfromlocking.NoisefromtheABSpumpmotorand
brakepedalpulsationmaybeobservedduringABSbrakingandthe
brakepedalmaysuddenlytravelalittlefartherassoonasABSbrakingis
doneandnormalbrakeoperationresumes.Thesearenormal
characteristicsoftheABSandshouldbenoreasonforconcern.

clustermomentarilyilluminates
ABS
whentheignitionisturnedon.If
thelightdoesnotilluminateduring
startup,remainsonorflashes,the
ABSmaybedisabledandmayneedtobeserviced.
EvenwhentheABSisdisabled,
normalbrakingisstilleffective.(If
yourBRAKEwarninglamp
illuminateswiththeparkingbrake
released,haveyourbrakesystem
servicedimmediately.)

Brake Assist (if equipped as part of the AdvanceTracா system)
TheBrakeAssistsystemprovidesfullbrakingforceduringpanicbraking
situations.Itdetectsarapidapplicationofthebrakepedaland
maximizestheamountofbrakeboosterassist,helpingthedriverto
achievemaximumbrakingpressure.Onceapanicbrakeapplicationis
detected,thesystemwillremainactivatedaslongasthebrakepedalis
depressed.Thesystemisdeactivatedbyreleasingthebrakepedal.
Whenthesystemactivates,thebrakepedalwilltravelwithverylittle
effort;thisisnormal.
